CIA to Pay Rock Band $200K for Unfair Use of Their Music to Torture Gitmo Prisoners

WASHINGTON (MFNS) – The Central Intelligence Agency announced Friday they have reached an out of court agreement to pay $200,000 worth of royalties to the well-known Californian band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, following a dispute over the unfair use of the band’s songs to torture imprisoned terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay.

CIA Director of Public Affairs Dean Boyd said that the potential lawsuit over copyright could damage the CIA’s reputation in the world, which is why they decided to settle the dispute as soon as the media published that the security agency was illegally using RHCP songs as a torture method. The agency also came to feel the use of the band's music was an extremely cruel method of extracting information, even for terrorist.

“The CIA nurtures the image of an organization that is fighting for freedom and democracy, and I think we can all agree that the infringement of authors’ rights clearly violates these goals. I would like to use this opportunity to officially apologize to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and state that the Agency will in the future cases of torture use only licensed music”, said Boyd, who added that such an agreement has already been reached with rapper Kanye West.

Looks like the aspirations of democrats just continue to take a dive as news of candidate for Texas governor Wendy Davis is being targeted in an investigated concerning work she did before entering politics. 

Already behind in the polls and losing ground with women voters, if this takes flight, she's done. Stick a fork in her.

"Documents related to Sen. Wendy Davis’ work as a lawyer for the North Texas Tollway Authority are part of an FBI inquiry of the agency.

The Travis County district attorney’s office said last month that details from its review of a 2012 complaint that a rival filed about Davis’ legal and political activities were “the subject of an open investigation” by the FBI. The district attorney’s office closed its review last year without taking any action.

Her work as a lawyer on land condemnation and delinquent toll collections for the tollway authority has come under scrutiny in the race. Both Davis and her opponent Greg Abbott have emphasized ethics.

Travis County prosecutors, in a March 24 letter, told the attorney general’s office that the FBI had informed them that release of files from the district attorney’s now-completed 2013 review of Davis’ legal work for the agency “would interfere with the FBI’s prosecution of the crime underlying the information.”

The county’s letter came in response to The News’ open-records request for the files. The county cited several potential justifications for withholding the files, including the ongoing federal inquiry."

I won’t back down from putting people’s interests ahead of special interests.

“If you have my back when they start throwing mud … I promise you, Rob Ford will have your back for the next four years.”

Come on Toronto,  give the guy another shot, if just for the chance to give your American friends a fleeting, if just a split second of time to see Joe Biden seriously.

Everything Hillary Clinton does and says looks and sounds like she's running for president of the student body, collecting testimonials, Valentines and staying out of everything remotely controversial.

The liberal consensus is that she's the inevitable president. The media fawns "Who's to stop her?" But she was "inevitable" once before. This lady's not for burning or even for getting zinged by questions about her past and the lack of solid accomplishments of her own. She gives every evidence of wanting only to glide in triumph into Bubba's old office with neither bumps nor bruises, or even a hair out of place.

She seemed confused and rattled the other day in New York City, appearing in a panel discussion at an oh-so-friendly forum by an organization called "Women in the World." When she was asked to identify her proudest moment as secretary of state, she couldn't come up with one, not even a New York minute, but her rambling answer was nevertheless revealing about who she thinks she is, or wants to be.

"Look, I really see my role as Secretary of State, and in fact, leadership in general in a democracy, as a relay race. I mean, you run the best race you can run, you hand off the baton. Some of what hasn't been finished may go on to be finished." 

 She shies away from linking herself to President Obama's achievements, such as they are, in foreign affairs, where — like it or not — she would have to talk about Benghazi, Syria, Ukraine and Crimea, just the subjects a secretary of state would be expected to know best. These are failures, not successes, and she prefers a link to Obama's perceived sucesses at home (but staying arms length from Obamacare).

She praises Obama for "stimulation and growth" abroad, for "getting back to positive growth and working with our friends and partners. ... I think we really restored American leadership in the best sense, that, you know, once again, you know, people began to rely on us, to look at us, you know, setting the values, setting the standard." (The verbal hiccups are revealing, too.)

This is also the media's view of the Obama legacy, which she wants to inherit, that a lot of people here and abroad certainly don't share.

"Two weeks after he first claimed victory after the ObamaCare enrollment deadline, President Obama was spiking the ball again as he demanded that Republicans stop trying to overturn his signature health-care law in an impromptu press conference. The excuse for the president’s appearance in front of the White House press corps today was the claim that the number of those enrolled in the plan has now exceeded eight million. That figure was, he said, enough to not only stop Democrats from seeking to avoid blame for their responsibility in foisting the unpopular law on an unwilling public but also to effectively silence its many vocal critics:

"I think we can agree that it is well past time to move on, as a country…The point is, this debate is and should be over. The Affordable Care Act is working. The American people don’t want us re-fighting the battles of the past five years."

"But the assumption that the government’s successful efforts to pressure or persuade several million people to sign up for ObamaCare means that it is “working” is completely unwarranted. It’s not just that the figures put forward by the administration are unreliable for a number of reasons. Even if we assumed that there really were eight million ObamaCare policyholders, the real test of this law’s viability and its ability to endure has yet to come. Not until we see just how many of those signed up are young and healthy enough to help pay for the vast number of sick and elderly covered by it will we know if it can pay for itself. And it won’t be until next year when the employer mandate and many other more painful provisions of the law are finally implemented that it will be clear whether the entire scheme can survive and how much damage it will inflict on the economy....."
