The Next Chapter in the Obamacare Train Wreck Saga

by Robert Janicki

America was warned, but they ignored the warning of patriots.  Now comes the next step in the challenge to fundament individual liberty and freedom on the road to serfdom for the benefit of the state.

By the end of this calendar year untold tens of thousands of Americans will receive a notice that their health insurance is not in compliance with Obamacare.   They are told that they must obtain Obamacare approved health insurance plans through either their state insurance exchanges or the continuing troubled Healthcare.gov website.  And, we know how well Healthcare.gov has worked out.

from WAPO
"Cancellations are in the mail to customers in markets where insurers say the policies no longer make business sense. In some states, such as Maryland and Virginia, rules call for the plans’ discontinuation, but in many, federal rules allow the policies to continue through 2017.
Insurers sending the notices to some customers include Waukesha, Wisc.-based Anthem, one of the largest insurers in the country; Baltimore-based CareFirst; Health Care Services Corp. in Chicago; Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif.; Humana in Louisville; and Golden Rule, an Indianapolis subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group.
One reason behind the switch is that insurers determined they can make more money selling plans that comply with the Affordable Care Act, often at higher premiums that may be subsidized by the government......"

Health insurance companies long ago determined that they had to go along to get along with Obamacre and it looks like their lobbying has paid off so to speak.  The health insurance industry can't lose since they are being "backstopped" by taxpayer subsidies for any losses they incur selling any of the Obamacare plans.  These same health insurance companies no longer are constrained by the economic forces of a competitive free market.

Once again Democrats, manipulated by the radical liberals in their Party, have managed to screw taxpayers who will not only have to pay higher premiums under Obamacare, but will have to subsidize the very health insurance carriers that are reaping the rewards of Obamacare on the taxpayers's dime.

Someone please explain to me how this evil cabal between government and the health insurance industry is anything but a criminal enterprise engaged in extortion of Americans, and done under the color of law?

"Free enterprise" and the supposed "free market" are long gone when government can force people to buy something they don't want or particularly need for their circumstances.  This is pure socialism in action.  Obamacare epitomizes the age of "Big Brother" and the socialist state and there is little chance that it will ever be repealed.  Of course politicians will make changes around the margins and tell us that all will be well.  That's about all they're good for these days.

Statesmanship is just a distant memory.

Bend Over and Smile America......The Next Big Bailout.

Know what? The Republicans had a chance to vote on a repeal of the “risk corridor” bailout for the giant insurance companies but House leadership, Boehner, didn’t let the repeal come up for a vote. It likely would have been killed in the Senate if the measure passed, but now we’ll never know. The potential bailout would have at least gotten some attention.

If you don’t believe that the GOP, at least a big part, is absolutely for big government this is a perfect example of how it is. Leadership sided with the big business over the taxpayers, for the thousandth time.

Boehner shows his true colors again. Really, he doesn’t even try to hide them these days.
"Conservative activists are complaining that the real motive for killing a vote was to avoid ruffling the feathers of the health insurance lobby by ending the ObamaCare insurance industry safety net.
Conservative lawmakers also fear that in the anticipated lame-duck session in December, Republicans will allow the Obama administration a de facto blank check to make payments to insurance companies that lose money on ObamaCare policies without congressional approval."
The guarantee against losses on ObamaCare enrollees encourages insurers to toss sound underwriting standards out the window......"

Isn't That Interesting.......

…in 2010, Barack Obama made a video in order to explain to America all the wonderful things ObamaCare would do for them and how it would improve the healthcare business.
Oddly, after ObamaCare was forced upon the country and we’re all learning how it is not ‘free’ after all and it is doing more damage and costing more than ever imagined…the video is no longer accessible at whitehouse.gov.

HHS Sec. Says Gays More Likely to Have Mental Illness

Washington Examiner - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Monday said that members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community will be a special focus of Obamacare because "for too long...[they] were pushed to the side."
"For too long, the health concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals were pushed to the side. LGBT individuals have faced limited access to health care and insurance. They have been less likely to get the preventive care they need to stay healthy, they have higher rates of tobacco use, and they are often at increased risk for mental health illness," said Sebelius in her statement.
Wait a minute! Gays and Lesbians aren't some group of people hiding under bridges or refused health care. They have a larger proportion of disposable income then the average American.......cause they generally don't raise children. And the Obama administration is saying that gays and lesbians are more likely to have mental illness. Isn't that homophobic?  Or could the APA be wrong afterall????

If Obamacare will have a "special focus" on LGBT issues, what does that mean for the rest of the country? Will it be time for their needs to be "pushed aside"?

Quote of the Week

On the Liberals' Supreme Court Shock:

"The panicked reception in the mainstream media of the three-day Supreme Court health-care marathon is a delightful reminder of the nearly impenetrable parochialism of American liberals. They're so convinced of their own correctness — and so determined to believe conservatives are either a) corrupt, b) stupid or c) deluded — that they find themselves repeatedly astonished to discover conservatives are in fact capable of a) advancing and defending their own powerful arguments, b) effectively countering weak liberal arguments and c) exposing the soft underbelly of liberal self-satisfaction as they do so."

"That's what happened this week. There appears to be no question in the mind of anyone who read the transcripts or listened to the oral arguments that the conservative lawyers and justices made mincemeat out of the Obama administration's advocates and the liberal members of the court." — John Podhoretz, Commentary Magazine Editor and Former New York Post Editorial-Page Editor

On Condoms and Catholics....

By Matthew@The Lunatic's Asylum
RE: The recent tempest regarding the ObamaCare mandates on birth control vis-à-vis religious institutions.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me that Muslim religious institutions must comply with the law, too. There has been a curious silence on this matter. One would either expect that any Muslim negatory response would come with an ostentatious explosion, or since one has been lacking, that another 'secret' deal has been brokered behind the scenes which exempts the Exploding People from this provision of ObamaCare.

I'm also waiting to hear from all those Left-wing retards who screamed about the draconian threats to personal liberties and privacy that were embodied in the Patriot Act to explain why it is that the government should respect a terrorist's right to privacy, vis-a-vis wiretapping in order to prevent a mass murder, and that it should have the right to drag people's sexual lives into the light of day and infringing upon people's right of conscience in order to score a cheap political point on behalf of a walking-wounded President who hasn't got the proverbial snowball's chance in hades to be re-elected.

I'm not expecting to hear anything especially logical or coherent on either account, so there's no point in waiting for answers.

A few words about birth control, which Muslims have been practicing since 632 AD -- only now with explosives and televised beheadings...oh, sorry, this isn't about Muslims, and I seem to have gone slightly off track. My apologies.

Louisiana Fourth State to Opt Out of ObamaCare Abortion Funding.

Posted by Diogenes Sarcastica
June 7, 2010

Baton Rouge, La.  - Governor Bobby Jindal has made the state of Louisiana the fourth to opt out of some of the abortion funding found in the government-run health care law President Barack Obama signed. This morning, the Louisiana Senate passed its opt out bill on a 28-3 margin after the House approved it by a wide margin.

HB 1247, authored by Representative Frank Hoffman and carried on the Senate floor by Senator Gerald Long, passed in the Senate, adds Louisiana to the list of states opting out along with Arizona, Tennessee and Mississippi.

The law exempts the state from the abortion mandate in the recently-enacted federal health care reform law. Denise Burke, an attorney with Americans United for Life, explained what it does.
“Specifically, the new law prohibits health insurers participating in the state-run health insurance exchange (scheduled to go into effect in 2014) from offering plans or policies that cover abortions except in rare cases in which the mother’s life is in danger.”
